Data Retention and Deletion Policy

This policy explains how long The Makery Inc. ("The Makery," "we," or "us") keeps personal information and how we delete it when it is no longer needed. It works alongside our Privacy Policy and follows Alberta and Canadian privacy law.

Our approach

• When a retention period ends, we securely delete the information or anonymize it so it can no longer identify you or your child.
• Access to stored information is limited to the people who need it for their role.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it to provide our services, keep children safe, and meet our legal and accounting obligations. Some records, such as payment records, signed waivers, and medication records, must be kept for a set period by law. Once information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

How we delete information

Information is permanently deleted or anonymized so it can no longer identify you or your child. Short term backups kept by our providers are overwritten on a rolling basis.

Asking us to delete your information

You can ask us to delete your account or any information about you or your child at any time by emailing info@themakeryspace.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within 45 days, as Alberta law requires, and usually much sooner.

Some records, such as payment records, signed waivers, and medication records, must be kept for the periods required by law even after a deletion request. If that applies, we will tell you what we are keeping and why, and we will delete everything else.

Exceptions

We may keep information longer than listed above if we are required to by law, or if it is needed for an active legal matter, insurance claim, or investigation. Once that is resolved, the normal retention period applies.

Reviewing this policy

The Makery's owner reviews this policy and our retention practices at least once a year, and whenever we add a new service or type of information. The "Last reviewed" date above shows when this last happened.
